Pharrel Williams has slammed a music record that has stood since 1978 in New Zealand. His infectious song ‘Happy’ has become the longest running number one single.
The record had been held by Boney M for the double-sided single 'Rivers Of Babylon'/'Brown Girl in the Ring' and it's taken all this time to be surpassed.
Pharrel’s hit has proven that people across the world really do value happiness. YouTube has been flooded with videos of people dancing to his ‘Happy’ song. The Grammy winning singer/songwriter was brought to tears when he was shown segments of some of the videos during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Williams has had a huge year so far and was nominated for an Oscar at this year's Academy Awards with his hit Happy, which appeared in Despicable Me 2.
