A scene examination is currently underway as Police work to establish if the sudden death of a man who's body was found inside a Thames home this morning is suspicious or not.

Eastern Waikato Area Manager of Investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley, said the man was found unconscious at the Queen St address by other residents shortly after 8am.

"An ambulance was called but he died at the scene. As a result Police are conducting a forensic examination of the scene to determine if there is anything suspicious in relation to the death while awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination."

Mr Pitkethley said at this point the 36-year-old's passing is being treated as an unexplained sudden death and will continue to be treated as such until evidence to conclude otherwise is available.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Thames Police on 07 858 6200.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
