The Waihi Community Forum (WCF) is holding Property Purchase Guidelines Workshops in May. One was held on Wednesday evening and another is to be held this Saturday from 4 pm at the Golden Legacy Centre on Moresby Avenue. There are just a couple of spaces available so registering your interest to attend is important if you'd like to go.
Before the guidelines can be finalised the WCF need your views on what else you think the Independent Review Panel (IRP) should consider before making future recommendations to Newmont Waihi Gold.
They're also interested to hear how and when you think the $4million budget for the purchase of properties not over stopes should be spent during the lifetime of the Correnso Underground Mine, or until consent expires (12 years).
The Forum would also like to consult with the community on how the 2014 Streets Ahead allocation will be spent. The Property and Community Investment Policy (PCIP) allows for $200,000 per year (funded by Newmont) to be spent. The Forum would like suggestions which could benefit the community and in turn improve property values.
