We've been informed that the family of the lady who was hit by a car when she was standing beside the ATM outside the ANZ bank in Seddon Street Waihi has been dealt a double whammy with the sudden death of the injured woman's husband.

Evelyn Gould required surgery on her seriously injured legs and has been recovering in Waikato Hospital since she was run down on January 10.

It was reported to us that Evelyn's husband Nat felt unwell and drove himself to seek medical attention at Thames Hospital a few days ago. His condition was so serious that Evelyn was flown to his bedside. She was able to see him before he passed away and will be taken to his funeral at the Waihi RSA today.

The service is at 11 am and Evelyn will be in a wheelchair as she is still unable to walk.

Evelyn is being supported by her family and friends.
