The NZ Transport Agency says road pavement rehabilitation work will start today, Monday (3 March 2014) and continue for a couple of weeks at Athenree Gorge on State Highway 2, just north of where the Transport Agency is realigning a series of bends known as the Arden Cottage curves.
Motorists are advised to keep to the posted temporary speed limits.
The work starts at 6.00am and goes through until 6.00pm daily.
Provided weather conditions are favourable the rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by Friday 14 March.
The work is being done to ensure the road pavement at Athenree Gorge is kept strong enough to carry heavy traffic over the next 10-20 years.
The Transport Agency would like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience and thanks them for their patience while this important work is being undertaken.
