Newmont Waihi Gold’s resource consent application for its proposed Golden Link Project Area Including Correnso Underground Mine has been publicly notified, and is open for submissions from now until 4.30pm Friday 28 September.

Recognising this project will have a reasonably significant effect on a large number of Waihi residents if it goes ahead, the Council has appointed an experienced Resource Management practitioner, Peter Crawford, as a Friend to the Submitters to help people get to grips with the submission process.

With 25 years as a former hearing commissioner under his belt and extensive experience in local government, Crawford has the perfect background and skill-base to mentor potential submitters and help them make the most of their role in the consent process. However it’s important to note, he will only be offering advice on the submission process, not on the submission itself.

Mr Crawford will be available for a series of drop-in sessions at the Waihi Service Centre, Seddon St, on the dates and times indicated below. If you would like to secure a specific time during these drop-in sessions you can call and make an appointment. Groups are welcome.

He will also be available outside of these times by appointment if necessary.
