Spring has sprung judging by the shop windows in Waihi. Industrious shop owners are getting into the spirit of the Go Waihi GoldFest and decorating their windows for the 'Best Dressed Window Competition'.
Go Waihi Coordinator, Brian Gentil said, "This year we decided to go with a Spring theme and it's all about time, effort and creativity. It's great to see businesses get into the spirit of GoldFest. There are locals and visitors out and about because of the school holidays and the window displays add to the atmosphere in town".
Kids have been having a glorious time trudging up and down the streets with a mum, dad, nana, grandad or family member to 'Count the Crunchie Bars' hidden in participating stores. And why wouldn't they? New World are giving away gift vouchers to the closest three entries and there's sure to be a Crunchie or two for the prize winners as well.
Somebody shopping in Waihi is also in with a chance to win a '$1,000 Pot Of Gold' during the GoldFest celebrations. "Keep an eye out for the pot of gold poster in at participating shop windows and maybe get in early with a bit of Christmas shopping", Brian said.
There are still plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy and it's worth grabbing a GoldFest Programme. Or you can tune into Gold FM on 96.4 Waihi, 88.3 Waihi Beach, 88.0 Paeroa or 96.4 Coromandel and we'll keep you up to date with all the happenings.
Waihi Stationary And More have come up with a creative Spring themed window which they've made from their own printed paper. Brilliant!
