There's an old Irish saying, "If you're lucky enough to be Irish, you're lucky enough".
Irish luck was on the side of Moira Mullen, a real Irish lass who got her green on and took her smiling Irish eyes off to the Waihi East School Fun Run and Walk around the Martha Mine Pit Rim on Saturday to celebrate the land of her birth.
She ended up taking away the prize for 'best dressed adult' on the day. Not only that, but her son Aodhan won the best dressed child on the day as well. Very apt!
Boys and girls, and mums and dads met at the Waihi Rugby Clubrooms at 8.30 in the morning to have a bit of fun and raise some funds for the Waihi East School. If you didn't make it to the fun run, you can still donate by getting in touch with the school.
You don't have to be Irish to enjoy St Patrick's Day, you just have to want to celebrate culture and fun.
