Whangamata Police are being joined by Search and Rescue volunteers from across the Coromandel as they search for an elderly man reported missing from his home overnight.
Officer in charge of Whangamata Police, Sergeant Vince Ranger, said 78-year-old Colin HODGES is believed to have gone missing from his Isobel St home some time after 8.30pm last night.
"A bald, male Caucasian of medium build and height, Mr HODGES is thought to be still wearing a dark green dressing gown, blue and white pyjamas and ginger and white slippers.
"He was noticed to be missing this morning and the matter was reported to Police who have begun an area canvas. Land Search and Rescue personnel have arrived and are assisting the search which is currently being conducted in the Moana Anu Anu Ave area."
Mr Ranger said anyone who may have seen someone matching Mr HODGES' description is asked to contact Whangamata Police on 07 865 0300.
