Green MP Catharine Delahunty asked some interesting questions to Phil Heatley, the Minister of Energy and Resources in the House a few days ago.
The government proposes to review the Crown Minerals Act and she asked "Will the Review of New Zealand Minerals Royalty Rates ensure that royalties are paid on all mines in New Zealand?"
Ms Delahunty followed with a series of supplementary questions and Newmont Waihi Gold was brought up during the questions. One minute and twelve seconds into the video below she asked, "Will he continue to allow mining company Newmont Gold Waihi to pay no royalties on New Zealand's third largest mining operation, the Martha Mine".
Phil Heatley's reply was also interesting.
