Christmas is elbowing its way into our calendar and Waihi is in for a bit of 'light relief'.
Last year the Poppet Head was given the 'bling' treatment with a fluorescent blue strip lighting highlight and the trees in Seddon Street were festooned with Christmas twinkle lights. The Poppet Head was visible for a considerable distance and brought interested passersby into town for a closer look. It certainly added to the ambience in the main street and the council is opening its purse to add to the glitter in town.
New 'Christmas' red strip lighting is going up on all the lampposts in Seddon Street and the Waihi Museum will be given a 'golden glow' with gold strip lighting.Â
Hopefully the switch will be flicked on the 1st of December and with new festive flags due to catch the wind at around the same time Waihi will look inviting for visitors and locals.
The Go Waihi Christmas Parade in association with Harcourts Real estate is on Saturday the 8th of December and it's a great chance for people to get out and celebrate.
Entry forms for the Parade are available at Gold FM and can be downloaded from our events section. They can also be picked up from Harcourts, the Council Office and the Waihi Library, all in Seddon Street.
