Newmont Waihi Gold are encouraging anyone interested in learning more about their resource consent application to read their application, find out more and have a say before submissions close at 4.30 pm on Friday the 28th of September.
In this week's Newmont Waihi Gold Update they explain the progress of the Property and Community Investment Policy, including property purchases, top-ups, their Streets Ahead programme, the AEP or Amenity Effect programme and the Waihi Community Forum.
They've given the figures for property sales, top-ups, home insulation, AEP payments and funding to local educational organisations.
They have also published their first local Community Report. It is a summary of their performance and challenges during 2011. Will it become a regular thing? It depends on whether the community finds it useful. Newmont is interested in gauging reaction to the report and it can be accessed via their website www.waihigold.co.nz or you can phone the 0800 639 6668 number or send an email to email@example.com
External Affairs Manager Sefton Darby spoke to Brian Gentil this morning about the selection of the 5th community rep on the Waihi Community Forum (WCF). It was left to the elected community reps already in the WCF to decide who to appoint and Newmont abstained from the process. Sefton made some interesting comments about it.
He talked about the Martha Exploration Project, their social impact assessments, the AEP programme, the insulation project, Property Policy and top ups.
