Year 11 Waihi College student Naomi Warrander is a brave, brave girl. She's getting ready to shed her locks and 'Shave for a Cure'. We loved her enterprising nature and enthusiasm when she stopped by our studios yesterday to tell us what she's about to do.
Naomi said she's shaving all of her hair off for all the people diagnosed with cancer and those who are still fighting the cancer battle. "I almost lost my nana to cancer and a lot of my friends have lost loved ones and parents to cancer. I am doing it for them and I will try as hard as I can to raise as much money to help find a cure", she said.
$5 million dollars is needed each year for child, family and support services for cancer patients and Naomi is passionate about the cause saying, " I'm willing to lose my locks to prove it.
If you'd like to sponsor Naomi here's the link to her page http://www.fundraiseonline.co.nz/NaomiWarrander/
There will be a charity concert at Waihi College on Thursday night to fundraise and then Naomi and other brave students will be giving the heads up for the razor crew to give them a close shave.
Good on you Naomi and everybody else game enough to shave their heads. Don't forget to take a beanie!
