Hauraki District Mayor John Tregidga phoned in to speak with Brian Gentil about the 'Friend to the Submitters' appointed to help Waihi people to get to grips with the resouce consent process associated with Newmont Waihi Gold's Golden Link projects application.
Retired planner and resource management professional Peter Crawford will provide free advice about what will count on written submissions. John is encouraging Waihi people to take advantage of the free service.
John said people put a lot of time into writing submissions and quite often the information is not relevant and can't be considered by those hearing the application so Council thought it would be helpful to offer independent advice.
Peter Crawford will be available to anyone who wishes to learn how best to write a submission on Newmont's proposal. He will also be holding workshops on Wednesday evenings at the Waihi Memorial Hall Supper Room for groups if there is enough interest. Phoning 0800 734 834 to make an appointment for a workshop is recommended, or you can drop in to see him at the Council Service Centre on Seddon Street Mondays and Saturdays from 10 to 2 pm and Thursdays from 5 to 7 pm.
