The Waihi Athletic Rugby Club Senior B Reserve team turned up ready to give their all on Saturday in the final against Te Aroha Cobras at Thames. There was some good rugby for the sideline fans but despite their best efforts the Waihi side went down 22 to 12 when the final whistle blew.

Mike Matutinovic from PGG Wrightson Real Estate said Te Aroha Cobras turned up primed to win and it was one of those games that put the game just out of the reach of the Waihi boys. He said the players can be pretty proud of themselves because they played some good rugby.

Some of the players in the B team are showing promise, so with a bit of honing of skills it's looking good for the Waihi Athletic Rugby Club next season.

Five Waihi Athletic A players have been named to play for the Swamp Foxes.

Te Ra Arthur, Brett Ranga, Konrad Williams, Ruben Mairs and Sam Wardie will be stepping up a level to represent the district. Congratulations.
